About a week ago TLJ got some tickets to see The Daily Show so we went with a couple friends. It was fairly exciting to be a part of the live audience. The set was obviously pretty small but that just means you sit closer to the action. Sweet! I have a crush on Jon Stewart. I think he would make a good mate, don’t you? He would always have plenty to say at dinner parties and class reunions plus you wouldn’t have to read the paper. He could tell you anything worth knowing. When he was on set I realized he is very tiny. Why must TV people be tiny? I don’t get it. No, this does not affect my crush on him. It’s affect not effect, right? So the show goes by quickly. They didn’t have to take a single shot twice. It was all done in real time with brief commercial breaks where two nerdy but awesome writers come speed walking out of the darkness and chat with Jon at the desk. When it’s all over he lets us ask him questions. I don’t remember anything that was asked but yes he is funny when on the spot. *Sigh*. It was a lovely experience. TLJ says I have a distinct laugh and he thought he heard it when the show aired that night. I guess I don’t know what I sound like because I didn’t realize it was that distinct. This worries me. The Knight side of my family is known for distinct, loud, in most cases obnoxious laughs. I don’t want to be THAT bad. Then again, I don’t really care.
Oh right, THIS is why I have a crush on Jon.
Let’s come on out of the dark ages people. Live and let live. Love and let love.

I *heart* Jon Stewart. I know he's a little guy (you can tell whenever he stands next to someone else) but he is one of my "secret boyfriends" (as Mrs. G. over at Derfwad Manor would say). Such a cute pout, too!
And yes, he did an EXCELLENT job in this interview with Mike Huckabee.
Which show did you see?
(Who was the guest that night?)
watched this interview last night and i thought it was good. i think the Daily Show lost some writers or something recently, don't think it's been as good as before the election (or maybe a little before then)
Gary said comments are not working here. It is set to allow. I don't know what is wrong. Sorry!
I would love to see the Daily Show in person. I saw that one with the Huckster.
Huck was my governor and I wouldn't vote for him someone paid me to. But, it was nice to see that, even though he's WRONG! he is capable of having a rather respectful discussion without name calling or being rude.
But, Stewart OWNED him that night! Mostly because Stewart is on the right side of this issue.
Now I think we need a vlog of your laughing so we can hear your distinct laugh. ;-)
I think people on TV are smaller because they have to fit inside that little box. But ya know, I've noticed something about people I see on stage. 90% of performers I see - male and female - have big feet. Oddest coincidence.

I so see How you have a crush on him! I have not really paid attention to him that much! I so need to go to the Jay Leno Show...
Kcinnova- I think the shocking part in person is that he isn't just short but rather frail. I can't think of the guest name from that night but he writes political limericks.
Furiousball- I don't know if they lost writers. Maybe they are just sleepy after the election coverage.
Jay- Yeah, I pretty much don't agree with anything Huck says but I was glad the conversation was civil. It was fun to watch.
Knot- So really we should only let them grow in their little boxes so they look good on TV. Hmm, really? I wear 9 and 1/2. Is that big for 5'9"?
Calm- That reminds me I saw a headline about Leno but didn't read it. Is something up with him? Isn't he supposed to be leaving soon or something?
I think I just gushed a little. Alone in my apartment. To Jon.
The average shoe size for women in American is a 9-10. You're right in line!
While on an objective level, I can see that Jon Stewart is not a bad looking guy, you really just like him because he's snarky and quick on the uptake. The fact that he's wrong on almost everything but "that one issue" shouldn't deter you from your crush. As for Jay Leno, he is leaving the Tonite show and Conan is taking over. NBC is going to put Leno on at 10pm before local news to boost the late-primetime ratings. I only watch the late night shows sporadically but have always thought that Conan was loads funnier than Letterman and I think he will be the best replacement for Jay.

I liked when Jon Stewart kept shuffling his books instead of pounding on Mike Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee is a well spoken bigot, but his speaking skills are no match for Jon ;)
GMEyster- The average is 9-10? I thought it was 7 for some reason. It’s good to know I’m normal.
FMD- It is an interesting statement to imply I only like someone because they are “snarky” which I understand to be rude and disrespectful. I think it is snarky of you to make that comment and I’m none the fonder of you for it. Actually, I claim this crush on Jon Stewart because I agree with his position on almost everything. He is a very intelligent person and, in my opinion, more respectful of other humans in general. You, on the other hand, I’m not so sure about.
Thank you for filling me in on the Leno situation.
Mike- Yes, they are both well spoken. I thought the whole conversation went really well. They were able to say how they felt and questions came out that I don’t recall hearing answers to before. Nobody had a temper flare up. It was enjoyable to watch.
I heart Jon Stewart! Which brings me around to an odd, unrelated story. In my last house I had the telephone number of what, apparently, had been a lawn service run by a guy named Jon Stewart. I got a call for Jon Stewart at least once a week for a year. If it hadn't been so funny it would have been annoying. I finally left a message on my voicemail that said, "I'm sorry. This is NOT Jon Stewart, has never been Jon Stewart, and never will be Jon Stewart." People who were looking for me (and not Jon Stewart) were very confused. :)
Wow, I turned the channel when he came on because I can't stand the Huckster. But I wish I had stayed to watch. Damn, Jon is intelligent and respectful and that was an awesome interview. We saw the Daily Show back when he was in an even smaller studio (Colbert is in it now) it seats 99 people. We were number 97 and 98. And it was the highlight of our trip to New York. Well that, and the dinner we had after at some little cajun place.
As far as positions on issues go, I hope you will agree to disagree with me on various things as we surely do. However, I have to question how much you actually watch his show if you would say he's respectful to people in general. While what I saw of his interview with Mike Huckabee seemed decent, he is generally very condescending if not outright critical of those he disagrees with. Did you see any of his election coverage regarding John McCain? While I acknowledge that is his style of humor, and do indeed often find him funny, I would have to definitely call him snarky, which I have always understood as a sarcastically and bitingly critical form of humor, but usually meant as humor nonetheless. As for my statement about you liking him for that reason, that was my attempt at humor which, in your view, failed. For having offended you in this way, I apologize.
FMD
I did see his coverage of the McCain Palin ticket, and being a 'fake news show', as he himself calls it, I believe he has a right to be critical and/or condiscending of stances that he disagrees with. By no means has he ever claimed to run a bipartisan show. He's not on a network news show. He isn't Brian Williams. He is Jon Stewart and he is on a basic cable late night news farce!!Sometimes you just need to call a spade a spade. Afterall his opinions on that particular issue greatly proved to be the popular opinion in this country.
PS- If I could grow a Fu ManChu...I would.
Distinctive laughs are usually infectious, which is a good thing. I love someone who laughs that makes me laugh just hearing that person laugh (was that grammatically correct?).
I suppose that's why Mr. Stewart is funny, he had to make up for his lacking stature...
I don't usually watch any of the late shows, but I do like Stewart. I think that he did a wonderful job of showing how misguided and narrow minded people are towards gay's and the idea of gay marriage. I also like that fact that neither of them lost their tempers.
Loved that clip. I kept thinking, "...all people don't marry just to procreate either."
Anywho, way to go Jon! I saw his live taping something like 5 or 6 years ago, where he had a Senator on that we had never heard of back then...named Barack Obama!
Haven't actually read your post yet; I'm working on an article and I have two more to try and pump out tomorrow before the children return home from school.
Because the rest of "school time" is booked and I have no more free thinking time available....YIKES!
The shoe....after finally replacing the pair...yes, in the car. I'd missed it the first three times I looked.
The Daly Show is my single favorite show. How long did you wait in line to get in? Can you take pictures inside the studio?
I've got a little crush now. I love a well spoken, calm, smartie. ;)
Great interview. You should check out Dan Savages interview with D.L. Hughley (CNN) Youtube search "Dan Savage on CNN's D.L.Hughley-Talk Prop 8, Race"
